3 Day Still Life Painting Course
Saturday 5th, 12th and 26th September.
1pm - 3:30pm
£28 per session or £80 when booking the block of three.
This three day course will focus on using paint and colour to depict still life. Using both natural and manufactured items Lynne will explore composition, colour, shape, form, tone and texture. Attending over the three weeks will enable you to explore both water colour and acrylic mediums as you build a portfolio of work and see your confidence and skills improving. Suitable for complete beginners or those wanting to develop their skills further.
All materials and light refreshments are included.
Tapestry Weaving
Full Day Workshop £58 - all materials and light refreshments are included.
Looms may be bought on the day for £18.
Textile artist Sarah Cooke will teach you the ancient craft of tapestry weaving. This craft can be given a contemporary twist. Designs can be intricate or bold, modern or traditional. During this one day course, you will create a tapestry weaving with a simple design or picture and you will leave with the skills and techniques to do more. Sarah uses a variety of techniques in her work including plain weave, basket weave, twining, soumack, pick and pick and more. Suitable for beginners or for those who already enjoy textiles and want to develop their skills further.
Get To Know Your Sewing Machine
£35 upstairs at The Plane Tree.
We offer this small group, 4 hour tuition, for just £35 thanks to the generosity of textile specialist Christine Anderson who gives her time for free to support The Plane Tree!
Bring your own machine along and Christine will take you back to basics so that you can really get to know how your machine works. You will create a tote bag, usually with a zipped internal pocket, allowing you to try a number of techniques. with Christine helping you to troubleshoot any issues, as they may arise.
You just need your machine and some thread. You can bring along a metre of cotton or polycotton fabric of your choice, or use any from our offcut stash. Upholstery or similar non-stretchy fabrics work well.

Lino Print Workshop
Marcus will take you through the process of transferring, cutting and printing your design. This class is suitable for absolute beginners and those with experience who want to develop their practice. £45 all materials and light refreshments included.

Anni will be joining us on the shop floor from 11:15 am to 1:15 pm demonstrating some of her paper-crafting techniques and showing off some of the beautiful projects she’s been working on. Come along, have a browse, say hello and see what she’s got planned for her upcoming September workshop.
